Chakra Light Therapy

"Chakra Healing Crystal Light Bed is an intense chakra healing therapy"

The balance it gives to an individual is one of the strongest and recommended therapies  for chakra healing, with the most successful results.

Experience the healing power of a Quartz crystal light bed.
Revitalize your mind, body & soul with these spiritually-charged chakra balancing crystals.

Vogel-Cut Quartz Crystals
Our seven Vogel-cut quartz crystals receive the frequencies produced by our frequency generator. The UV laser and magnetic energy from the coil in the holder cancel each other out once they interact, this is how scalar energy is generated. What is left in its place is the scalar energy field...TESLA ENERGY! It is then focused through the Vogel-cut crystals and into your chakras.

Frequency Generator
Our machine produces frequencies. Everything has a frequency. The earth has a frequency, every illness has a frequency, even we have frequencies that can all be measured. The generator can produce frequencies that will harmonize the body. Thereby, allowing for a healing environment within you and cellular rejuvenation.

LED Lights & Chromatherapy
The LED lights generate light from the complete visible spectrum. Chromatherapy is a treatment that uses colors to adjust the vibrational frequencies in the body in order to result in health and harmonization. Each color emits a frequency related to a specific vibration. Each vibration is said to help alleviate different physical symptoms. Chromatherapy works on several energy points within the body to re-establish its natural balance as well as clearing and balancing the aura.

In Brazil and around the world, the crystal bed is known as a powerful treatment that has an inter-dimensional effect as the vibrational patterns manifest higher and higher levels of peace, focus, awareness, harmony, & balance.

WHAT ARE CHAKRAS ?
There are 7 chakras in the human body, each vibrating at a different frequency. Energy flows through the chakras from one part of the body to another. If your chakras are blocked, your energy can become stuck. Each chakra corresponds to a color and internal organ or body part. They are numbered from the bottom up; the "first" chakra is the lowest one, and the base of your spine.

HOW DOES THE CRYSTAL LIGHT THERAPY WORK?
The Crystal Light Therapy uses 7 quartz crystals and colored laser light to clean and strengthen your chakras and aura.

Book on Chakras

Harmony in Chakras

Dr. Armitstead is fortunate enough to have collaborated with other healing professionals in writing a book about Chakras.  Here is a short excerpt from the chapter she wrote in Harmony in Chakras:

I will never forget the first time I worked with chakra energy in my office.  Sarah was a 34 year old woman suffering from anxiety and depression.  I had been working with her for about 6 weeks on dietary and lifestyle changes and designing a clinical nutrition program with whole food supplements to help her.  She was reporting a little improvement but it wasn’t the progress I was expecting.

In my healing work I use muscle testing as a tool to help identify what nutritional support the body needs to heal.  Using muscle testing I screen for heavy metals, heavy chemicals, immune stressors like bacteria, viruses, fungus, and parasites and food sensitivities using homeopathic vials. Any of those things can cause an imbalance in the body and can lead to symptoms; in Sarah’s case, depression and anxiety.
Muscle testing is based on quantum physics. E=mc2. So if energy equals mass times the speed of light squared then anything with mass has energy and we are using that energy and muscle testing to get a response from the body. This response allows us to know what energy is disrupting the body and make very specific lifestyle and supplement recommendations for that person based on the muscle testing.
I had been using this technique for years and seen great results with depression and anxiety so when Sarah came in that day and wasn’t getting the results I expected I wanted to go deeper into the emotional component with her about her anxiety and depression and since muscle testing is my tool I decided to muscle test the chakras for the first time and see what would happen.
Up to this point I knew what chakras were from a very superficial point.  I knew they were energy centers in the body each correlating with certain emotions.  The red one had to do with feeling safe and being at home in your body, the orange one had to do with our sexuality…and so forth.  I wasn’t even sure of the proper names, just the colors.  I had seen pendulums used before in testing chakras so I thought if pendulums can pick it up then maybe muscle testing can too.  So this time instead of muscle testing the organs, with Sarah’s permission, I put my hand in the energy center just a half-inch off the body to see what would happen.  To my surprise, but I guess it shouldn’t have been surprising, the body responded!

To get your signed copy of the book and learn more about Chakras and how I muscle test them come to the book launch on

Is Your Heart Chakra Balanced?

What even is a chakra and how do I know if my Heart Chakra is imbalanced?
Written by guest blogger & Healing Arts staff, Jaci Pearse.

The literal translation of the word “chakra” is wheel, or disc. On an energetic level, these wheels are swirling centers of energy, tied to massive nerve centers in the body. Each chakras contains bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being.

The Heart Charka is tied to the lungs and the cardiovascular system, including the heart. You heart is one of the hardest working organs in your body, constantly at service to pump vital blood through your whole body. The lungs are both voluntary and involuntary, which is actually really cool if you think about it, in that we can control their movement, but we can also allow them to function outside of our conscious thought.

On an emotional level, the Heart Chakra is tied to feelings of love, connectedness, and sanction between the earths and the heavens. Its the bridge between the three upper chakras and the three lower chakras, symbolizing the union between the physical and the a-physical.

We could spend days, maybe even weeks, learning about and exploring the chakra system and the implications if has on our physical, spiritual, and emotional health. But for the sake of an introduction, let’s focus on the key points of the Heart Chakra, and what practical things we can do on a daily basis to bring it back into balance.

Ask yourself these questions:

Do I trust others?
Can I make good of any situation?
Do I have close, loving relationships in my life?
Is my cardiovascular system healthy and strong?
Am I prone towards upper respiratory infections or chest colds?

If you answered “no” to any of the above questions, or yes to the last question, chances are your Heart Chakra is imbalanced. Let’s break down four simple practices you can create in your daily life to rebalance the fourth chakra:

1)Take 5 deep breaths: Really deep breaths. And exhale just as completely and fully as you inhale. Count to six as you breath in, pause for one second, then count to six as you exhale on the same tempo. If you’re not able to make it to six, start where you are able. As you breathe, notice your heart beat. Notice the self love you are generating by considering the lungs and their need for and relationship to air.

2) Practice Love: If you are usually the receiver, practice being the giver - of love, of affection, of compassion. And on the reverse, if you are usually the giver, allow yourself to receive. Acknowledge that both giving and receiving can take effort, and that you are worthy of both. Even self-love counts, and it covers both giving and receiving!

3) Open your chest: If you practice yoga, spend a little more time in the heart opening poses like Camel Pose or Fish Pose. Practice you breathe in theses poses for a double hit. If you’re not familiar with yoga, lie down on your back and prop a pillow under the upper back. If its comfortable for your neck, let your head tilt back slightly and your arms splay out to the side. You can even do it in bed!

4) Oils: Rose, Ylang Ylang and Helichrysum are three very powerful oils for the heart chakra. Apply a few drops in your bath water, dilute and spritz in your living space, or even apply directly to your sternum. Slightly to the right of your sternum, just below the collar bone is an acupuncture point called “Spirit Retrieval.” Applying oils to this point has been known to help draw back the severely detached and reclusive spiritual feelings of those effected by an imbalanced Heart Chakra.

Chose one or all four of these exercise and take a few moments throughout your day to practice bringing back balance and harmony to your Heart Chakra. Most importantly, keep going. Keep taking steps daily to balance and enrich the heart chakra, and create a life of connectedness to others and love for self.

Chakra Class now in Brooklyn!

Healing Arts NYC is proud to announce the opening of a second Chakra Class! The first Chakra Class is going so well in Manhattan that I wanted to open up a second one to be more convenient to our Brooklyn patients. Only blocks away from the Awakening office location will be the Chakra Class on Tuesdays at 9am at Breakin' Boundaries at 11 Newel St. between Driggs Ave and Nassau Ave. The 8 series class starts on January 19th with the first class being a balancing of all the chakras, starting with the root chakra and working our way up to the crown chakra. The second class will then balance all the chakras but with more emphasis on the root chakra with the third class having more emphasis on the sacral chakra. You can take all 8 classes or just the classes that are specific for the chakras you want!

To learn more about the chakras, what they are and how to balance them, read our blog. The class was developed by Dr. Alicia Armitstead and Kenna Tuski. They took their knowledge of the chakras and movement to create an exercise class that opens up the chakras so one feels less stress and more centered and at peace in their body. It's also a great workout that combines movement from pilates, yoga, basic exercises and Kenna's dance background in a specific sequence to give you the best possible results.

Each class is $18 and can be paid at the time of class with check, cash or credit. Bring your yoga mat or $1 mat rental.

Here is also the Chakra Class video that gives you a taste of what the class will be like!

Own Your Power With a Balanced Solar Plexus

The 3rd chakra or solar-plexus is located just above the naval and below the rib cage. It is our energy center and it is where our Will Power comes from; our ability to achieve, self-esteem, raw emotions, and self-discipline are all governed by the solar-plexus. It is where we can have a mental understanding of our emotional self.

The solar-plexus not only governs the emotional and mental aspect of your psyche but also your psychic experiences. Often a feeling of intuition or “gut feeling” in a certain situation will benefit you greatly if you listen to it. All aspects of the digestive tract, including the assimilation of nutrients are controlled by the 3rd Chakra.

When this Chakra is in balance you will be in complete control over your emotions and thoughts. Your ego will have no unwanted influence over your actions. You will know without a doubt, and accept your place in the Universe, have self-love and, in turn, have a great appreciation for all the people in your life and the uniqueness that they bring to world. When in tune, your Solar-plexus will radiate warmth and joy through-out your entire being, and to others who come into contact with you.

Over-active Solar-plexus Chakra

If your chakra is over-active you may be judgmental or critical – and you will easily find fault in others. You may be demanding and have extreme emotional problems, being very rigid or stubborn (it’s either your way or no way). Often anger, or aggressiveness result from an over-active chakra. You may always be planning to do things, but never doing, and your work or interests become a priority over things you have to do (a workaholic). You may also be a perfectionist and can’t settle on something that is already good enough, it always has to be better.

Under-active Solar-plexus Chakra

If this chakra is under active it can cause severe emotional problems. You may have a lot of doubt and mistrust towards the people in your life, and worry too much about what other people might think about you. You may also run on “auto pilot” avoiding your feelings of depression or anxiety; you may feel afraid or alone when you start to look at what you have been avoiding. You also may feel that you are not good enough and be seeking a constant approval of others, this can lead to a need, or dependency on the people in your life.

Physical Symptoms of a Solar-plexus imbalance: Poor digestion, weight problems, ulcers, diabetes, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, arthritis, pacreas, liver or kidney problems, anorexia, bulimia, hepatitis, intestinal tumors, food allergies and colon disease.

Healing the Solar-plexus

There are many ways one can begin to balance their Chakras.

Affirmation for the Solar-plexus:
Oh I feel it in my gut
A swirling mass of confusion, indecision and contempt
Breathe, breathe deep all the way down to the pit
On the breath bring all that is good
Whatever that may be to your center
Remember what you are good at
You have a gift to share
You have power to make a difference
I don't have to blame, judge or force you
I don't have to fix it and make it all right
I will breathe deep and remember to honor myself and others
I will exhale all that I don't need and inhale Love
Thank you, I am powerful
Like the unique perspective I bring to the table
I will move forward with self respect and integrity in tact
I will act generous with my gift

Color of the solar-plexus is associated with the color yellow. Picturing a beautiful yellow sunflower where the chakra is located can have an instant affect. Yellow Candles or surrounding yourself with pictures of yellow things can begin to bring this chakra into balance.

Organs/Glands governed by the solar-plexus: Large Intestine, Stomach, Digestive System, Adrenal Glands, Pancreas, Liver, Lungs.

Stones that help the solar-plexus: citrine, topaz, yellow calcite

Aromatherapy/Essential Oils for the Solar-plexus: Best is lemon, followed by Rose, rosewood, sandalwood, chamomile, rosemary, myrrh, frankincense.

Healing the Solar-plexus with Nature: The Solar-plexus’ Element is Fire. Taking a walk out in the sun is extremely beneficial. Sitting in front of a camp fire, or fire place can have an instant healing effect. Fire breathing from Kundalini Yoga will help too.

Solar plexus Chakracise – do the twist, belly dance or hola hoop for at least 70 seconds.

The Root Chakra

The root chakra is red in color and is located at your lower pelvis . It is the root of your being and establishes the deepest connections with your physical body, your environment and the Earth. It is the most instinctual of all chakras — it is your survival center.

Chakras are energy centers of the body and can be either open or closed. When the root chakra is closed the energy is blocked and a person will experience fear, anxiety, insecurity, frustration, obesity, anorexia, or problems in the hip, legs, low back, knee or sex organs.

Having an open root chakra is about being physically present and such is needed in order to manifest what you want. It will be extremely hard to manifest what you want with a blocked root chakra because you aren't grounded enough with the physical world to make it happen.

When the root chakra is blocked one may not feel grounded. Expressions like "getting on your feet again" or "be on firm ground" convey a good connection with the ground or an open root chakra. "To lose ground" or "getting swept off your feet" convey a blocked root chakra.

When you aren't feeling grounded to help open up the root chakra you can wiggle your toes, stomp feet, march in place or do squats. It is best to do these chakracises with bare feet and on a wood floor. The wood contact is very grounding. When doing root chakracises have your attention on the root chakra, doing them fives times is sufficient.

Earthing pads may help one stay grounded as well. And rocks are said to have special energy characteristics. Rocks that will help open the root chakra are granite, smoky quartz, obsidian, and black tarmuline. When using rocks they don't necessarily have to be placed in the chakra but somewhere on your body or near it is good. Keeping one in your pocket where ever you go is a good idea. Wearing the color red will also help.

Essential oils are great for opening up blocked energy. Balance is what I use for the root chakra. The warm, woody aroma of Balance, dōTERRA®'s grounding blend, creates a sense of calm and well-being. It contains Spruce needle/leaf, Ho wood, Frankincense, Blue Tansy Flower and Blue Chamomile Flower essential oils in a base of Fractionated Coconut Oil to offer an enticing fragrance which promotes tranquility and a sense of balance for the root chakra.

Root Chakra Affirmation

I belong where I was born
I belong to the family I chose
I needed to learn from them and them from me
I belong in this school of life
I thank you for lessons learned and those to come
I now choose to move up
I have decided to belong inside of me
vibrating in unison with my perfect self

Best Healing Oil for Each Chakra!

After lots of testing and smelling and testing and smelling some more I have finally come up with the best oils for each chakra! It's been months on end of working with the oils and chakras and trying out all sorts of oils to narrow it down and then just choose one oil for each chakra.

Starting with the Root Chakra (red)
BALANCE
Balance is a blend of oils made from spruce, rosewood, blue tansy, frankincense and coconut oil. It helps promote relaxation, soothe sore muscles and joints and evoke a sense of balance and tranquility. It's good to rub on the bottom of our feet before we even get out of bed in the morning to start the day out feeling balanced. When feeling anxious, it's good to apply to neck or wrists.

Sacral Chakra (orange)
DEEP BLUE
Wintergreen, Camphor, Peppermint, Blue Tansy, German Chamomile, Helichrysum, and Osmanthus found in Deep Blue oil are a powerful ally when suffering from the occasional achy muscles. Also good for headaches, joint pain, pre or post workout and anywhere where there is inflammation in the body. And that's what the sacral chakra is concerned with, taking care of the body. And when the sacral chakra is blocked muscle spasms do occur, So wherever there is an ache put deep blue on it. You can dilute it in coconut oil or it comes in a muscle rub too!

Solar Plexus Chakra (yellow)
LEMON
Solar plexus chakra is about digestion and the lemon oil helps cleans the body and aid in digestion. It's perfect to have on you and add to your water! It helps purify the air so add it in your diffuser. It also helps the lungs and promote a positive mood and increase brain function. These aren't just any lemons but they are sourced from Italy, where lemons grow the best!

Heart Chakra (green)
ELEVATION

Also known as the 'Joyful Blend', contains Lavandin Flower, Lavender Flower, Hawaiian Sandalwood, Tangerine Peel, Melissa Flower, Ylang Ylang Flower, Elemi Resin, Osmanthus Flower, and Lemon Myrtle Leaf essential oils. It is excellent when you feel you need emotional support. But it is also great for post-partum depression. Add a few drops in your bath after a stressful day to elevate your mood and of course, rub it on your heart when in times of grief or sorrow. This is my favorite oil to wear as a perfume, just dab on the wrists and you are good to go!

Throat Chakra (Blue)
BERGAMOT

Besides adding a drop into regular tea to make into Earl Grey tea this citrus oil has a great way of uplifting while calming. So it is great for those of us who are anxious and depressed at the same time. I know it sounds like an oxymoron but it's true! Anxiety and depression can go hand in hand. I love using it for headaches. Put it right on the head ache spot and massage in. It is also known to help cleanse the skin so it's great for acne, rosacea or the like. I was surprised it started testing well for the throat chakra but I think it helps so well with our anxiety and depression which can be due to an ineffective throat chakra that's why it works so well!

Third Eye Chakra (Indigo)
LAVENDER
If it's one oil that does it all it's lavender and that's why you see it in so many of the essential oil blends. It's good for

Physical uses:
Stress & Anxiety
Agitation
Exhaustion
Mood Swings
Jet Lag
Hyperactivity
Grief
Depression (including Postpartum)
Concentration

Spiritual Uses:

Inner Peace
Purification
Meditation
Protection
Dispel Negative Energies
Lift the Spirits
Mental Clarity
Intuition

Crown Chakra (Violet or White)
SERENITY
Of course this blend has lavender in it for all the spiritual uses but it also has Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, and Ylang Ylang with the warming aromas of Hawaiian Sandalwood and Vanilla Bean to really help one have a restful night sleep. Great to rub on bottom of feet right before bed. Calms one down and is more intense than lavender by itself that's why it's good right before bed or meditation!

Opening Up Chakras With Essential Oils!

Karuna did a wonderful chakra meditation using aromatherapy this last Thursday at the office. For those of you who missed it I wanted to share with you what oils she used for the chakras.

Root Chakra - Balance
Earthy tones of Spruce needle/leaf, Ho wood, Frankincense, Blue Tansy Flower and Blue Chamomile Flower essential oils applied to the bottom of our feet helped us feel grounded.

Sacral Chakra - Digestzen
DigestZen® is a proprietary blend of pure essential oils. Ginger, peppermint, tarragon, fennel, caraway, coriander and anise each have specific attributes which help restore normal balance in the digestive system and sacral chakra.

Solar Plexus - Lemon
One drop rubbed right into the stomach is very soothing.

Heart - Serenity
A relaxing blend composed of Lavender, sweet marjoram, roman chamomile, ylang ylang, sandalwood and vanilla bean.

Throat - Deep Blue
A blend of wintergreen, camphor, peppermint, blue tansy, blue chamomile, helichrysum and osmanthus work together to ease achy joints and sore muscles. We rubbed it on the neck and shoulders for muscle tension relief.

Third Eye - Lavender
Massaged right into the Third eye and it smelled soooo good!

Crown - Frankincense
Perhaps the most precious of the ancient oils, frankincense is highly sought after by modern consumers for its many uses, including relaxation, immune support, and mood enhancement.

Be Connected with an Open Crown Chakra

The crown chakra is the seventh chakra and it is at the top of the "chakra ladder" which starts from the root chakra that grounds us on the Earth and progresses upward to the crown chakra which connects us with the universe and the Divine source of creation.

The gift of this chakra is experiencing unity and the selfless realization that everything is connected at a fundamental level. The energy of this chakra allows us to experience mystical oneness with everyone and everything in nature.

There is no intellectual knowing at the level of seventh chakra, but there is serenity, joy, and deep peace about life. You have a sense of knowing that there is a deeper meaning of life and that there is an order that underlies all of existence. The "way of the crown chakra" is the way of going beyond the limits of your own ego. It is the way of transcending the ego and knowing that all of creation is interconnected at a fundamental level. According to Tantric philosophy, the seventh chakra is both a receiver and giver of energy and consciousness. It receives energy to sustain life and it gives back the personal energy to unite with the collective pool of consciousness.

It is the meeting point between finite (the body and the ego) and infinite (the universe and soul). The thousand petal chakra embraces an attitude of gratitude for one's life. When we realize that everything is interconnected and that we are part of the larger scheme of life, we begin to live with gratitude, faith and trust, rather than filled with fear and anxiety.

The challenge of this chakra is to liberate the spirit - open to the divine - and at the same time stay firmly rooted deep in the ground. If the crown chakra is blocked on can feel constant frustration, migraines, depression, no spark of joy, destructive feelings. It is white or purple, in color and the stones associated with it are clear quartz, amethyst, and Oregon opal. Wearing purple glasses can help too!

The chakracise is to meditate for 12 minutes. Could be longer too but at least 12 minutes is necessary to stimulate the opening of the crown chakra. In meditating you are clearing your mind to make the crown chakra stronger. A stronger connection will allow you to feel more intuitive communication with you and your higher Self. How to Express the Throat Chakra

If your Throat Chakra is STRONG, you are good at voicing out your thoughts, ideas and emotions to those around you. You're admired for your willpower and strong communication skills, and your conviction to speak the truth, even if it may be uncomfortable to some. Your career and personal life are enriched as a result.
If your Throat Chakra is WEAK or CLOSED, you constantly feel like nobody cares about your opinions, and that you have nothing of value to say. You're likely to be known as the 'quiet one' in your professional and social circles, and you frequently settle with following other people's opinions. You may suffer from a sore throat or thyroid problems.

In general, the throat chakra is blue in color and is about transformation and healing. It gives to change through speech, writing and thoughts. Besides a closed throat chakra affecting the throat and thyroid it can also affect the neck, skin, ears, general inflammation, back pain, and teeth.

Energetically, gemstones that help the throat chakra are aquamarine, azurite, turquoise and lapis lazuli.

If you are interested in purchasing the throat chakra blue glasses just email me and let me know at info@healingartsnyc.com! $30 plus shipping.

Stored anger from solar plexus is released here. Anger itself is not a bad thing. It helps us know when something needs to change. How anger is expressed is when we get ourselves into trouble with others. When we feel anger we either act on it right away, raising our voice or ignore it and bury it deep down. The key is to express what it is that is making you angry in a self controlled way without emotion. So the next time you feel angry:
1) stop and think to figure out the real cause of anger
2) accept it or change it. Most of the time the change needs to come from within, not without
3) take appropriate steps to change. If the change needs to occur within, inner work can include a change in belief, a reframing of a situation by putting yourself in the other person's shoes, meditation, journaling, talk therapy, exercise, etc.
4) if without, agree on a time to sit down with the other person. Pick a neutral time when neither of you are emotional and explain how the situation isn't meeting your needs and what change you would like to happen. Explain what it is you feel you need and if the other person needs anything from you to make that happen. Hopefully the other person is able and willing to listen and make changes. If he/she isn't then it is not a partnership but someone wanting power over you. It would be best to draw boundaries further away from that person if you can.

The throat chakra is healed by sound. So chanting is a good thing to do if you have a weak throat chakra. If you are new to chanting then start with 'Om' for 5 minutes and see how it feels. Gargling with salt water, singing, screaming (pillow therapy), and laughing also help. Laughing actually helps all chakras.

Each chakra responds to a certain musical note. The throat chakra corresponds to the note “G”. Signing bowls are an easy way to create a note and are fun to play with. You can use it is before meditation to set the mood and after meditation to seal in the good energy.

Foods that nourish your throat chakra are liquids in general: water, fruit juices, herbal teas. Tart or tangy fruits: lemons, limes, grapefruit, kiwi. Other tree growing fruits: apples, pears, plums, peaches, apricots, etc. Spices include: salt, and lemon grass.

Raquel Reis's Lemon Elixir I posted last week would be perfect for the throat chakra!

The following poses help open and balance your throat chakra:
1) Plow Pose, Halasana

This posture provides very strong opening for both throat and heart chakras.

Both the throat and the heart are protected in the front and exposed and opened at the back.

This is different from how we usually open the throat or heart chakra. Most of the time we open the front of the body. We are doing something new here. Changing our pattern of opening.

The posture is called the plow pose, because symbolically, we are "plowing" through the field to implant new patterns of behavior which serve us better in our lives.

You may find that you will need a folded towel underneath your shoulders.

Lie on your back with your arms by your side. Breathe in.
On an out breath, bend your knees and bring your thighs up towards your belly.
Engage your core muscles and lift your bottom off the floor.
Place your heads on your lower back and begin to straighten your legs upwards.
Stabilize in this posture and take a few breaths. Allow your face, scalp, and neck to release. Observe your breath.
When you feel you released tension from your face, neck and shoulders and your breathing is even and steady, slowly drop one leg behind your head.
If your breath remains steady, drop the other leg behind your head.
Hold the posture for few breaths and visualize your throat and heart chakra gently opening to the power and flow of energy.

2) Fish Pose, Matsyasana

With this throat chakra yoga pose, you open the front of your neck. When you are in this pose, visualize blue light coming into your throat chakra. See your chakra spinning and vibrating with energy.

Feel the power of self-expression in your throat. Visualize yourself in a situation where you want to express yourself and your feelings. Feel your own truth.

Sit on the floor with your legs fully extended in front of you.
Place your hands on the floor behind you, with your fingertips just underneath your buttocks.
Slowly move your elbows out of the way and allow the head to go back. Always maintain control, never allow the head to just flop back.
Level yourself on the crown so you feel supported.
Continue moving your arms out of the way.
You can either let your arms rest at your side, or you can bring your palms together over your heart in a prayer position. This will enhance the flow of prana in the upper body.

Cobra Pose and Camel Pose are not only for opening your heart chakra, but also excellent throat chakra yoga poses as well.

You will know without a doubt, and accept your place in the Universe, have self-love and, in turn, have a great appreciation for all the people in your life.

In this way you are giving away your power to what you think others may be thinking of you.  You need to know that it is none of your business what other people think of you nor do you really have any control over it.

Affirmation for the Solar-plexus: I am confident in all that I do. I am successful and release my creative energy into this world, effortlessly.

Color of the solar-plexus is associated with the color yellow. You can picture a beautiful yellow sunflower where the chakra is located. Yellow candles, clothes or surrounding yourself with pictures of yellow things can begin to bring this chakra into balance.

Organs/Glands governed by the solar-plexus: Large Intestine, Stomach, Digestive System, Adrenal Glands, Pancreas, Liver, Lungs.

Stones that help the solar-plexus: citrine, topaz, yellow calcite

Aromatherapy/Essential Oils for the Solar-plexus: My favorite is Lemon but also rose, sandalwood, chamomile, rosemary, myrrh, frankincense.

Healing the Solar-plexus with Nature: The Solar-plexus’ Element is Fire. Taking a walk out in the sun is extremely beneficial. Sitting in front of a camp fire, or fire place can have an instant healing effect.

Solar plexus Chakra-cise – Movement is great for chakras.  Laughter moves all chakra energy. Specific movements to open up the Solar Plexus - do the twist, belly dance or hola hoop for at least 70 seconds.  Any Abdominal exercises.  Deep breathing with the diaphragm

How to Open the Root Chakra to Manifestion

Over the next couple of blogs I'm going to talk about each chakra. So let's start with the first chakra, the root chakra.

If you are interested in purchasing the root chakra red glasses just email me and let me know at info@healingartsnyc.com! $30 plus shipping.

Emotional Freedom Technique

Last week I blogged about balancing the body's energy centers, also known as chakras, to help with both emotional and physical ailments. This week I want to write about another technique used to balance patients' physical and emotional energy. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as tapping, uses acupuncture points, that when tapped can help people release emotional and physical stress in the body. By applying pressure to the acupuncture points, EFT works on the meridians of the body to release emotional energy and because emotional stress can impede the natural healing of the body, once blocked energy is released, physical issues, chronic pain, or diagnosed conditions can get better.

EFT started in the 1990s by Gary Craig and here's a video demonstrating it.

EFT can be explained in these simple steps
1. Identify the Issue:
Make a mental note of what is bothering you. This becomes the target at which you "aim" the EFT Tapping Basic Recipe. Examples might be: Sore shoulder, my father embarrassing me at my age 8 birthday party or wanting to do well on a test. Be sure you are only targeting one issue at a time. As you will learn later, trying to combine issues in the process will compromise your results.

2. Test the Initial Intensity:

Here you establish a before level of the issue's intensity by assigning a number to it on a 0-10 scale where 10 is the worst the issue has ever been and 0 is no problem whatsoever. This serves as a benchmark so we can compare our progress after each round of the EFT Tapping Basic Recipe. If, for example, we start at an 8 and eventually reach a 4, then we know we have achieved a 50% improvement.

For emotional issues, you can recreate the memories in your mind and assess their discomforts.
For physical ailments you can simply assess the existing pain or discomfort.
For performance issues you can attempt the desired performance level and measure how close you come to it.

3. The Setup:

The Setup is a process we use to start each round of Tapping. By designing a simple phrase and saying it while continuously Tapping a point that is located at the center of the fleshy part of the outside of your hand (either hand) between the top of the wrist and the base of the baby finger. In this way you let your system know what you’re trying to address.

When designing this phrase there are two goals to achieve:

1) acknowledge the problem
2) accept yourself in spite of it

We do this by saying:

“Even though I have this _______________, I deeply and completely love and accept myself”.

The blank above represents the problem you want to address, so you can just insert things like:

This headache:
“Even though I have this headache, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

This fear of heights
“Even though I have this fear of heights, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

4. The Sequence:

This is the workhorse part of The EFT Tapping Basic Recipe that stimulates/balances the body's energy pathways. To perform it, you tap each of the points below while saying a Reminder Phrase that keeps your system tuned into the issue. I list the points below followed by a description of the Reminder Phrase:

Karate chop (KC): not pictured.
Top of the Head (TOH)
Beginning of the Eyebrow (EB)
Side of the Eye (SE)
Under the Eye (UE)
Under the Nose (UN)
Chin Point (CH)
Beginning of the Collarbone (CB)
Under the Arm (UA)

The Reminder Phrase is quite simple as you need only identify the issue with some brief wording. Depending on your issue, you might say the following at each tapping point....

"This headache",
"My father embarrassed me",
"This difficulty in singing that high note."

Begin by tapping the karate chop point while simultaneously reciting your setup phrase three times. Then, tap each following point seven times, moving down the body in this ascending order:
  • eyebrow
  • side of the eye
  • under the eye
  • under the nose
  • chin
  • beginning of the collarbone
  • under the arm
After tapping the underarm point, finish the sequence at the top of the head point.

While tapping the ascending points, recite a reminder phrase to maintain focus on your problem area. If your setup phrase is, “Even though I’m sad my mother is sick, I deeply and completely accept myself,” your reminder phrase can be, “The sadness I feel that my mother is sick.” Recite this phrase at each tapping point. Repeat this sequence two or three times.

5. Test the Intensity Again:

Finally, you establish an "after" level of the issue's intensity by assigning a number to it on a 0-10 scale. You compare this with the before level to see how much progress you have made. If you are not down to zero then repeat the process until you either achieve zero or plateau at some level.

Sometimes we are highly aware of what is bothering us and so figuring out what phrase to tap is easy but at other times it can be difficult. Since I believe this is a strong tool to help heal I have seen where a patient picks the wrong phrase of words to tap and so EFT actually has a negative impact on the patient. So to help prevent this I muscle test the chakras first and then depending on the chakra that is weak find a positive affirmation that makes the weak chakra change to strong. Then while tapping the patient is to say that affirmation at every point to help reset the chakra energy. Patient repeated report feeling lighter, breathing easier and physical relief after tapping this way.  EFT is a great tool to help with any feelings of stress to get both the mind and the body to relax and heal.

Energy Balancing and the Chakras

There are 7 main energy centers in the body, known as chakras. The definition of chakra is a point of spiritual energy in the human body according to yoga philosophy. Each chakra has a certain location, color and correlation to specific body parts, mental thoughts and emotional moods. When the energy center, or chakra, is blocked or weak physical or emotional dysfunction can occur. When we release the blocked energy and open up the chakra it can give ease to the mind and the body, undoing tightness, stiffness, or malfunction in the body. There are different ways of releasing the energy and since being a chiropractor is all about releasing stuck energy in the spine, joints and muscles of the body it was only a matter of time before I started to release blocked chakra energy in my patients as well.

I muscle test the chakras by putting my hand in the energy centers. Not only do I check the front of the body’s chakras but also the sides and back.  Chakras are not one dimensional but think of it as a ball of energy and we can check the four sides of the body for it.   after muscle testing and finding out which ones go weak I then prioritize which one needs the most healing and balance that chakra first.   I then have the patient wear the appropriate colored sunglasses that correspond to the weak chakra for at least 60 seconds. Wearing the different colored sunglasses puts that specific color or wavelength into the brain and that helps reset the blocked chakra to allow energy to flow again. If you are interested in buying a pair, they are $30 at www.chakraclass.com

There are lots of different ways to open up and balance chakras.  Sometimes the issues isn’t a blocked energy but an energy that is too open that needs to be balanced.  Working with the chakras I found so many ways that were beneficial in balancing the energy. Singing bowls which I have all 7 of them at home and use on a regular basis are wonderful, using sound to balance.  I also love using tuning forks, crystals, essential oils, yoga and color therapy.  There are 7 different chakras that correlate to the 7 different colors of the rainbow - starting from the bottom, the first chakra is red and up to the 7th chakra, white or violet.,

After developing the glasses I wanted to incorporate exercise and movement into opening up and stimulating the chakras so we developed Chakra Class. In this exercise class you will go through a sequence of movement to help open up and stimulate all the chakras. After getting a good workout you will leave the class feeling light and rejuvenated as well!

We also now have the Chakra Light Therapy at the office where you lay under 7 quartz crystals that have cold laser lights going through them to open and energize each of your chakras.
